So last night I was in the middle of paying for my LSAT Prep class when I randomly decided that I don’t want to apply for law school yet. I started thinking about all the reasons I actually want this, since its such a huge investment (3 years of time, 150K+ in tuition) and decided that I should probably intern or work at some law firm for AT LEAST a year before I do this, because I would hate to invest that much for nothing.
Another reason is that I often get too influenced by my Uncle who is very successful and an amazing defense attorney, and I keep thinking that after I graduate I will immediately become just like him, especially when he tells me that I would be great at it, but then when I think about it realistically I realize that he went to law school during the Carter Administration and probably only paid $3,000 a year, plus he has worked for the state since 1980, and has no idea how difficult it is to get into law school now, and he probably doesn’t know how expensive it is.
So instead I’m going to apply for a masters degree instead, find a job at a law firm, work there for a year, and I will figure the rest out later.
